Economical results of hospitals in the Czech Republic as of 31. 12. 2011

This Topical Information gives an overview of the costs, returns, economic outcome, claims and obligations of hospitals from trade relations as of 31. 12. 2011. The followed-up parameters of hospitals are presented both comprehensively for all hospitals and separately for hospitals by type of founder. The total costs of hospitals reached 130.0 thousand mill. CZK by of 31. 12. 2011, total returns were 130.3 thousand mill. CZK. Hospitals had claims from trade relations amounting to 14.0 thousand mill. CZK as of 31.12.2011, out of that 1.8 thousand mill. CZK after due date. The volume of obligations from trade relations amounted to 16.7 thousand mill. CZK, out of that 3.7 thousand mill. CZK after due date.

Balneal Care in 2011

This Topical Information brings selected data on balneal treatment in the Czech Republic in 2011. Balneal treatment was provided to 348 429 adult persons, besides that to 1 966 juvenile persons and to 9 783 children. In the total number there were 111 141 Czech citizens fully paying for balneal treatment and 133 630 foreigners fully paying balneal treatment.

Utilization of Health Care by Foreigners in 2011

In 2011 health care in hospitals in the Czech Republic was provided to 83 849 foreigners with total costs of the respective health care 634 million CZK. Out of this number 40 061 treated foreigners were of EU citizenship. The most frequently treated patients were persons originating from Slovakia, from the group of “other countries not specified”, from Ukraine and Germany. The most frequent way of payment for health care provided to foreigners in respect of value was utilization of foreign health insurance and cash payment. Outstanding debts after due date for health care provided to foreigners reached 36 million CZK at the end of 2011.

Abortions in year 2011

In 2011 the total number of abortions declined to 38 864. The number of spontaneous abortions decreased too from 13 981 to 13 637 and presents 35.1 % of all abortions. 72 % of all abortions in 2011 occurred up to 8th gestation week. The number of legally induced abortions slightly increased to 24 055. Among women who applied for induced abortion till 8th week of pregnancy there was a largest number proportion of single, secondary educated and women with two children. Abortions of foreigners constituted 6.6 % of the total.

Information about detoxification units and patients undergoing detoxification from addictive substances in 2011

17 in-patient healthcare facilities operated units for detoxification from addictive substances (detoxification units) on 150 beds specially designated for detoxification in 2011. Other 12 facilities did not detach beds for detoxification from the total bed capacity in wards. In total 7,161patients underwent detoxification from addictive substances with average length of stay 11.4 days.

Hospitals in the Czech Republic in 2011

mmary By the end of the year 2011 there were 189 hospitals in the CR, with 60 336 beds (include 50 678 acute care beds, 7 457 nursing care beds and 2 201 newborns' cots). Long term decrease of number of acute care beds continued in 2011. The hospital bed fund diminished in 2011 by 1 883, i.e. 3.0 %. The average length of stay was 5.6 days, which means slight decrease - by 1.7 days.

Cerebrovascular diseases - hospitalized patients and deaths in the Czech Republic in 2003–2010

46 374 persons were admitted to hospitals in the Czech Republic for Cerebrovascular disorders (I60–I69) in 57 484 cases of hospitalization in 2010. 5 826 people died during the hospitalization. A total of 11 567 people died for these diseases in the Czech Republic. The average length of hospitalization was 14.8 days.

Malignant neoplasms in 2009

This Topical Information brings data on oncological diseases newly reported to National Cancer Registry of the Czech Republic (NCR CR) in 2009. The monitored data concern trends of incidence and mortality of all diagnoses of malignant neoplasms and particulary in selected most often diagnoses of malignant tumorous. Incidence is analysed by age structure as well. In all selected most often oncological diseases the standardised incidence has decreased mildly (except for MN of prostate). Total standardised cancer mortality has decreased too in 2009. Statistics of mortality is provided by Czech Statistical Office.

Information in the National Register of Users of Medically Indicated Substitution Substances - the year 2011

Availability of substitution treatment in the Czech Republic has increased. New specialised facilities have been opened gradually and since the year 2006, substitution treatment has been also available in prisons. The number of patients has also increased. This fast information brings data not only about the number of patients according to age, region, substitution substance and about selected health status indicators. But it informs also about the facilities, which provide substitution treatment, about news and planned changes in the system of substitution treatment in the Czech Republic.

Health care of patients with diagnose F63.0 - pathologic gambling in out-patient and in-patient establishments in the Czech Republic in 2004–2010

There were 1 456 patients with diagnose F63.0 treated at out-patient care establishments in the year 2010. Altogether there were 536 cases of hospitalizations with this main diagnose in psychiatric institutes and psychiatric wards.

Infectious diseases in the Czech Republic in 2010

This Topical information presents data of the National Institute of Public Health on reported infectious diseases that proceed from Information System of Infectious Diseases (EPIDAT). This sum of infectious diseases has been completed with data from Registry of Tuberculosis, Registry of Sexual Transmission Diseases and National Reference Laboratory for AIDS. This report presents besides the survey of incidence of infectious diseases also the mortality data on infectious diseases reported by the Czech Statistical Office and number of hospitalization in Czech hospitals by the National registry of hospitalized persons. In 2010 there were 128 thousand cases of infectious diseases, including 1 029 cases of dog bite reported to the information system EPIDAT.

Health care of patients with diagnoses F01, F03 and G30 (dementia) in bed establishments in the Czech Republic in 2006–2010

The total number of hospitalization for dementia incereasd by more than one fifth (from 6 549 to 7 981 hospitalizations) in 2006–2010. The largest increase occurred at Alzheimer's disease (by more than 41 %, about 489 hospitalizations) and unspecified dementia (by one third, by 436 hospitalizations), vascular dementia increased almost by 3 % (by 76 hospitalizations).
