The Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic has been processing detailed data from various branches of health care over long periods. It publishes annually comprehensive publications presenting broad characteristics of health care in statistical data, and publications in the series "Health Statistics" which describe in detail certain selected sections of health care. These publications are based on information from the National Health Information System (NHIS) which is filled with data from the Programme of Statistical Investigations of the Ministry of Health, from information systems following the legislation of the Health Sector, including National Health Registries, and from information systems of the other Sectors (e.g., Czech Statistical Office, Czech Administration of Social Security, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Finance).

The Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the CR is concerned about accessibility of the publications to wide public in health care. Therefore, full versions of all issued titles are exhibited on the web site http://www.uzis.cz. All of them are provided to the network of libraries of the Sector of Health selected titles are provided to health departments of regional and city Administrations. All titles are also available in regional Units of IHIS CR.
