3 new Topical Information were added Another from the series of analysis of the data from the health survey (EHIS) in 2008 observes the use of medicines - prescribed as well as non-prescribed ones. For both types of medicines the prevalence of their users is approx. 45 %, the most used were medicines on hypertension, pain, cold and flu and vitamins. Women use medicines more than men. The percentage of prescribed - medicines users increases with age, it does not apply for the non-prescribed medicines. If compared to 2002 survey, the percentage of women using the prescribed medicines decreased, namely those for migraine, for non-prescribed medicines the decrease was observed in use of vitamins and minerals among women, increase was apparent in use of medicines against cold and flu. Any problems with physical pain during the last 4 weeks were reported by 36 % of men and 45 % of women, 3 % of men and 8,5 % of women reported serious or extreme problems. Problems are more frequent and serious among women and seniors if compared to others. Aktuální informace hodnotí celkem tři tématické bloky z Evropského modulu o zdravotních determinantech. Nerovnosti podle pohlaví a věku jsou popisovány v příslušných oddílech této Aktuální informace. Z hlavních výsledků je patrné, že hodnoty BMI jsou vyšší u respondentů starších 44 let, mužů s nadváhou je více než žen. U vysoké fyzické aktivity je věkový profil poměrně vyrovnaný, k poklesu dochází až od 75. roku života, a z hlediska pohlaví je častější u mužů. Ženy konzumují ovoce a zeleninu přibližně 2x častěji než muži. According to the TB Registry, in 2009 there were 710 cases of TB in the CR; of that 482 in men and 228 in women. The total represented 6,8 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. In foreigners there were 136 reported cases. The most frequent form was TB of the respiratory system and of lung. Morbidity was highest (absolutely and relatively) in the oldest age group 75+. 43 persons died from TB. In international comparison the CR belongs to countries with low TB incidence in all its regions. |

1 new Topical Information was added This Topical Information reviews data involving number of treatments-examinations including those of regularly cured and observed, number of treated patients with tumorous as well as non-tumorous disease including kind of their therapy and number of X-ray oncology medical devices and their utilisation. The total number of examinations and total number of treated or examined patients with tumorous disease (malignant as well as benign) has increased by 1 % compared to previous year. On the other hand the number of patients with tumorous disease newly admitted to cure decreased by 1 %. The most of patients was cured in Prague-city region and Southmoravian region, which is given by local natural centres and localisation of specialized oncological care. |

Newborns and infants deaths till 1 year of age 2009 The source of information are data from the Czech Statistical Office. The publication contains detailed data on births (live, still), dead children and infant mortality (till 1 year of age), classified by vitality, birth weight, sex, region and district of residence, age and cause of death. Since 1998 the publication is supplemented by trend of indicators of newborn and infant deaths till 1 year of age. |

4 new Topical Information were added There were 40 528 abortions in the Czech Republic in 2009, it means 15.94 abortions per thousand women in fertile age. Of that 9.69 were legally induced abortions and 5.76 spontaneous abortions per 1 000 women in fertile age. The rest were ectopic pregnancies and other abortions. The average total monthly salary of employees in health services in the CR remunerated according to valid regulations on salary (establishments founded by Ministry of Health, region, municipality or city or other central institution) in 2009 was 26 750 CZK, for physicians and dentists it was 48 723 CZK and for general nurses and midwives it was 26 261 CZK. The average total salary increased from 2008 by 7,6 %. The average monthly wage of employees in health services in the CR remunerated according to valid regulations on wage (in private organisations and all balneological organisations irrespective of founder) reached the level of 22 840 CZK, for physicians and dentists it was 47 266 CZK and for general nurses and midwives it was 22 371 CZK. The average wage increased from 2008 by 6,8 %. The source of data on activity in branches of nuclear medicine are regular statistical acquisitions of reports on activity of health establishments A (MZ) 1-01 completed and returned by every out-patient department (unit) in branches nuclear medicine in all health establishments without regard to type of founder. The activities of the departments and establishments nuclear medicine were ensured by 669.19 professional health workers (FTE, including contractual workers) in 2009. There were treated 3 484 patients and altogether were performed 437 212 examinations in vivo and 1 243 874 examinations in vitro. This topical information describes performance of health care institutions in the radiology and visual methods section. The data comes from reports on activities of health establishments A (MZ) 1-01, which are filled in and handed to UZIS CR by departments of health care facilities within the Program of statistical acquisition of Ministry of Health. The return rate of radiology reports was 92 %, in total there were 535 reporting units involved in the data collection process. Activities of health care institutions in the radiology and visual methods section were performed by 1 434 physicians and 3 320 other health care workers. There were 13 675 978 examinations performed in departments of radiology. |

6 new Topical Information were added The average number of physicians gynaecologists per 10 000 women in 2009 was 3.0. The total number of examinations per 1 physician and the number of registered patients per 1 physician declined. Over one half of women aged 15 to 49 years used hormonal or IUD contraception. The absolute and relative numbers of patients with newly diagnosed carcinoma declined. In 2009 there were 116 666 deliveries and 188 093 gynaecological surgeries recorded in the CR. In the Czech Republic ensured 355 physicians activity of gastroenterology workplaces in the year 2009. The number of examinations and treated patients increased only slightly compared to the previous year. In all were registered 138 thousands of dispensaries patients for selected diseases, most frequently for reflux disease. Rise recorded at the number of cases of Crohn disease. This Topical Information brings the selected data on the development of Balneal Care in the Czech Republic by the indication groups during 2005–2009. The total number of the patients rose from 314 298 to 378 181 persons. Traditionally the highest share of adult patients under the public health insurance as well as of individual payers from abroad and inland come for treatment of diseases of locomotive organs, the highest share of juveniles for treatment of diseases of nervous system and the highest share of children patients come for treatment of non-tuberculosis diseases of respiratory system. This topical information describes performance of health care institutions in the clinical haematology section. The data comes from reports on activities (form A (MZ) 1-01), which are filled in and handed to UZIS CR by departments of health care facilities (reporting units) within the Program of statistical acquisition of Ministry of Health. The return rate of haematology reports was 92 %, in total there were 174 reporting units involved in the data collection process. The activities of health care institutions in the clinical haematology section were performed by 190.39 physicians and 1 218.99 health care workers. There were 23 100 804 examinations provided in departments of clinical haematology. This Topical Information serves a review about activity of surgery branches in out-patient care, e. g. the number and kind of surgical examinations and treatments, the number of injuries according to age of injured person or type of injury and the number of surgeons and medical sisters which are involved in surgical care. This Topical Information also provides a simple comparison of these out-patient surgical care activities among particular regions of the Czech Republic. This information characterizes the evolution of health establishment network in 2009 with particular regard to marked deviations from the preceding year or from the long-term trend. Provision of therapeutic and preventive care in the CR is assessed separately for out-patient and in-patient care. At present there are 27 959 health establishments registered in the CR, nearly 19 824 independent practices of physicians in primary care and specialists. On the average there are 233 inhabitants per 1 physician and 326 inhabitants per 1 out-patient physician. 3 new Topical Information were added In the Czech Republic there were in 2009 on the average 3.39 speech therapists per 100 000 inhabitants. The number of examinations increased during the period 2008–2009. Most frequent in persons in the age group 0 to 19 years was dyslalia (speech sounds articulation disorder). In persons above twenty years old was most frequent aphasia (loss of speech ability). This Topical information presents the numbers of diabetologist´s consultation rooms, numbers of health personnel involved, numbers of treatments-examinations and numbers of treated patients. The number of treated diabetics steadily increases, the number of patients treated for diabetes in 2009 was more than 783 thousands, it connotes almost 10 thousand more than last year. The number of patients treated only with diet decreases (188 thousand in 2009), whereas using drugs grow up. Far it was registered the increase of patients with chronic diabetic´s complications. It was totally 28 % in the group of treated patients. Out-patient departments of the branch of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases monitor persons with higher risk of lung diseases; they perform tuberculin tests and TB vaccination, take care of persons with respiratory problems and diseases. In 2009 there were realized 1 907 944 examinations, 54 373 BCG vaccinations and 63 640 tuberculin tests. There were followed up 562 226 registered patients and were monitored 185 332 persons with risk of lung diseases. |
