The aim of the publication is to present information on the economic situation in health care and its trends, in the form of time series, in context with the development of the overall economic environment, and to provide it to health professionals as well as to the wide public. The present issue contains a digest of available economic information from various sources. Macroeconomic information from Czech Statistical Office, information on expenditure on health and on health insurance first of all from Ministry of Health, Czech Statistical Office and from health insurance corporations. The area of health care providers is covered by Institute of Health Information and Statistics using data of the National Health Information System. Further data are obtained from State Institute for Drug Control and Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The basis for international comparison is the database OECD Health Data.
