Utilization of Health Care by Foreigners in 2010

In 2010 health care in hospitals in the Czech Republic was provided to 79 557 foreigners with total costs of the respective health care 588 million CZK. Out of this number 40 137 treated foreigners were of EU citizenship. The most frequently treated patients were persons originating from Slovakia, from the group of “other countries not specified”, from Ukraine and Germany. The most frequent way of payment for health care provided to foreigners in respect of value was utilization of foreign health insurance and cash payment. Outstanding debts after due date for health care provided to foreigners reached 41 million CZK at the end of 2010.
