Incidence of Malignant Neoplasms in the Czech Republic in 2010

This topical information of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics of the Czech Republic provides data about cancer cases newly reported to the Czech National Cancer Registry (CNCR). The total number of 82,606 cases of malignant neoplasms (MN) and in situ neoplasms was reported to the CNCR in 2010. In comparison to the previous year, the incidence increased by 4 %. In the same year 27,834 persons died for oncological diseases (an increase by 0.6 %). After the age standardization to the European population this means a slight year increase in incidence (2.4 %) and reduction in mortality (0.9 %). The most frequent diagnoses of MN in 2010 included colorectal cancer, neoplasms of trachea, bronchus and lung, breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. In summary, a slight decline in standardized incidence occurred in selected cancer diagnoses (with the exception of prostate and breast cancer). The mortality statistics is suplied by the Czech Statistical Office.
